KS3 visited Long Eaton Tesco for an all access, behind the scenes tour at Tesco Long Eaton, with the store’s community champion Michelle. Students had the opportunity to find out how bakery products are made, the process of making bread within a supermarket and how to ice pastries. It got a bit chilly when students went into the industrial sized chillers and freezers; minus 22 degrees celsius was not an preferred temperature for KS3. KS3 met store manager, Lee, to quiz him on what it is like to run a store, including how much the store makes in an average week, how much staff are paid and what its like to be a manager of a larger supermarket.
